I accidentally knocked into my laptop pretty hard while it was on and wanted to check if the hdd was ok, after thinking about it a little I decided to read every sector with
sudo dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/null bs=100M status=progress which took 3 hours and showed no errors
After that I checked the S.M.A.R.T. data in the Disks utility and was happy to see that there were no errors
So for now the drive is working but I’ll keep an eye on it

Time to upgrade to ssd. You do not have to worry about knocks
no way will I ever use a SSD in any of my computers, I have seen them burn out after just a few years where as I have HDD’s in my computers that are well over 10 years old and still going strong with 100% health
sorry I just don’t trust those flash chips, they damage themselves during write cycles and worst still if there is a power failure during a write the whole drive can completely die

Around 70% health.
I would try to make sure to have sufficient ram to minimise write cycles
its good to minimize writes to SSD
one old dell that I have running a server for 18 years now the HDD is still 100% health but your SSD is down to 70% health after just 7 years
I really dont like this flash technology, it burns out too quickly
If someone ever makes a new type of flash that can handle write cycles without destroying itself then i’ll swich over 
Most likely due to the capacity of the ssd. Mine is only 240GB.
The 1TB ssd I had had over 95% health even after 2 years of usage.
So larger capacity = longer lifespan
I think you have a good point there and now that I think about the drives i’ve seen dying were mostly 240 or 256 GB
I guess im over-exposed to this problem being in the repair business, maybe I shouldn’t worry so much ?
Probably, as technologies advances, these days SSDs are just as reliable as HDDs, I have a 512GB SSD used for 2 years and is only at 98% health. (I indeed don’t do lots of writing, but anyways. And I hope I remembered it correct lol).
I think it’s a good time for you to have an upgrade

If your first troubleshooting step just in case there might be an issue is to write the entire drive, then yes, they will burn out quickly.
I have multiple 8+ year old SSDs that are working just fine. I have personally never had an SSD break on me. HDDs on the other hand?
Also, I don’t need absolute 100% data durability. All data I care about is automatically backed up somewhere else, so I’m safe regardless.
And for day to day usage, the performance benefits of SSD or NVMe storage vastly outweigh any data durability. I don’t use HDDs at all for anything other than bulk data storage where I don’t care about speed.
