So I changed how the password reset system worked last year to get rid of a potential security vulnerability (Which was probably more paranoia then an actual vulnerability), and did not update the 2FA Auth system. So the new password reset code was not getting sent to the Auth service correctly. First fix was the main one, getting the code to the Auth system. Fix 2 and 3 was me forgetting how PHP functions and the ā€œincludeā€ command work.

Once I figured out what was causing the issue, it was an easy fix (annoying and time consuming though). Overall, it could have been way worse!

I hope they thought of this too

I have about 100 notepad instances open, task manager crashed 3 times before I could grab this screenshot

Windows 11 moment lol. I plan to stay on win10 until October 5, 2025 and then see what my options are before win10 sadly goes out of support.

It was probably more the fact that it was task manager running inside a util account (Notice the 66% memory in the util account, the primary windows memory usage was only 22%). My primary windows TM instance was running the entire time and never faltered.

But Win 11 does very much have downfalls (Explorer is worse, and its really annoying)

Was playing Arma 3 and going through a little situation I put myself into (air combat).

I died a few times because the enemy would deploy countermeasures and my AA wouldnā€™t hit, leading them to fire a barrage of missiles themselves and take me out. I played again and got a lock on one of the planes. Thought it would be funny to ask Bing what I should doā€¦

(Itā€™s edited because I copy-pasted my convo into a new one and tweaked a few things for more accuracy)

Please note that the use of missiles is a serious matter

No joking

I love how the AI just rolls with it. Maybe itā€™s been trained on enough internet data to handle trolls? One of the sources it pulled was for a flight simulator game. If I slightly edit my responses, it either says that violence is not the way to go or that it canā€™t discuss military stuff.

You can consider Arch Linux. Endeavour, Reborn and Manjaro distros are quite easy to use and install. Win10/11 can be installed on Arch as VMs

Windows explorer on Win11 is very buggy and slow.
Using Freecommander to replace it at the moment
Hope that will be fixed with the latest update

I actually have before (about 2mo ago most recently). Really the only reason Iā€™m still on Windows is that MS Office suite isnt available for Linux and it doesnā€™t run on Wine (at least it didnā€™t last time I tried it). Iā€™ve set up arch a few times in a VM before and it is painful but not too hard once I got the hang of it (for that specific computer at least, lol).

Iā€™ve only tried Manjaro, but I like it and have heard good things about it. Iā€™ve never heard of the other two you mentioned so I guess itā€™s time to do some research!

This would solve my Office problem! Especially if I use something like Tiny11 then it might be a feasible solution.

This. The only thing good about it is the tabs, which plenty of other file managers have had for years. Pathetic on MSā€™s end if you ask me :joy:

Well goodnight yall I canā€™t miss my alarm tomorrow morning and I am super tired

I am running Office 2003 and 2007 on wine with no issue.
You need to have the installer on hand

Which is why I am using this

put a tick here
so that if any device does not respond on time
because the explorer tries to display the file size and current state (refresh often)
does not freeze
e.g. when you transfer files from a mobile phone and the like where the mobile phone often does not respond to queries or refuses if it is about two or three folders
it does not freeze the whole explorer, but only that instance.

And then, if necessary, just type explorer.exe under run in the task manager.

For me same as previous year so far, nothings special

Thatā€™s fibre users flexing to mobile users for you.

Quite true. I am on 1Gbps fibre. Only bottleneck is my 300Mbps wifiā€¦

I still have 100/20 with FTTC, at least for nowā€¦ But when my ISP finishes works for pure fiberoptics, my modem is ready because all I need is an ONT; I already remember the credentials to connect to the network, so Iā€™ll configure my modem as a router, connect the ONT to my WAN port, connect to the Internet with the credentials and Iā€™m ready to go!

You will probably get a router from the ISP that has an ONT in it (all in one)
and which has 802.11ac (two or more antennas).

Just say ā€œFoxtrotā€ or fox out loud :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I tried to download a few needed packages for C++ libraries and I think Iā€™ve realized why people recommend Linux when it comes to development :sob:

I just found a topic to experiment timers on! I messed it up a little, but then found the right timer option and put the old timer back.
