Portable apps I use immediately closes right after opening it. filezilla, putty, vlc, you name it. How do i fix the problem?

It’s been a while since I didn’t use portable apps, so I don’t know if I can help you… Maybe try to install a new version of them, or use the launcher that is provided with the portable app to launch the app? Maybe also rebooting should work?

I’m late today
I had work today because I bought parts and assembled a new PC

This time I only have some similarities with @JxstErg1 jst because we have the same chipset :slightly_smiling_face:

No matter how many times I’ve done it, it’s always super tense when the power button is pressed for the first time :scream:

I installed the sound driver twice :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
at first I thought I didn’t connect the front and rear audio cables (case hd audio) properly
because no matter where I plug it in, I have no sound
and then, after everything, I go to the win11 settings and see that they put the sound card from the graphics card as default instead of the one from the motherboard…

I was most afraid because the CPU doesn’t have integrated graphics (it’s cheaper and I don’t need it), but since I put a newer processor inside, I wasn’t sure if they put the latest BIOS update to support that CPU, and then I think what if I can’t see the bios because there is no video signal etc…if the CPU is not supported etc…

But luckily it went without any problems :smirk:
later flashed the bios to the latest version, OC RAM to work at its clock, etc…

Tomorrow move all images from SYS partitions to M2
, and then once Win11 23H2 comes out, I’ll probably do a clean install to get rid of the crap from the ex pc

more info

first i was thinking of getting ryzen-7-5800x
but saw online that it is an older processor that consumes 140w
and mine is newer with slightly weaker characteristics and only 65w
in addition, when you OC, it is stronger than that one… for me it is now at 4.2Ghz

But not the same motherboard! At least ASRock is a good brand as well

Yeah… But when you get good parts, when you turn it on you can simply scream, “It works! Yesssss!” as everything turns on! Another satisfaction is when you get to see the first POST… But then… Coming next…

I also have the audio driver from my graphics card, but decided to plug in my headphones and when I selected the audio input it worked…

My motherboard at least came with the BIOS update necessary to boot into the BIOS with my CPU installed (it was also a fairly decent revision, they shipped me the Rev1.4 of it, which came with BIOS 2.E I think), but in the box they still have the “AMD Ryzen 3000 Series Desktop Ready” sticker on it…

And this is the important part!

Oh, and you also got a cooler as the Ryzen 7 5700X really needs one… At least it’s not as power-hungry as the 5800X, so even that cooler works fine!

all kinds of dark scenarios were going through my head from the possible 3 beeps onwards

it’s always drama

I always take a huge cooler because you don’t even need a fan unless you are extremely OC CPU - I’m calmer and I don’t have to think about whether the CPU is cooking or not.

it’s good that the motherboard supports even version 9 of the processor, so that once the prices drop for a few years, we can very easily and cheap upgrade the system

My ex MB was also asrock
and they got my trust mostly because after 10 years since MB was produced, when those security flaws appeared in intel processors, etc., and after 10 years, they issued a BIOS update where they patched it with new microcode, etc.
and in general they are constantly working on new bios versions…for all types of motherboards from the cheapest to the premium ones.

Besides that, often when I read their support forums
I often come across cases where someone with a 12-year-old motherboard decides to buy a new GPU and the like, so he has some problem and they create a custom bios flash for him… and additionally remind him that if he changes the hardware in the future, he should return the bios fw to the default instead of use that custom.

Other companies would say: “you have a 2 year old MB? buy a new pc… forget about our support…”

Thank you :hugs:

When I see the “UFO” classification I am satisfied :alien:

Those lines on the palms? Is it true that they make your hand movement easier? NO, this is myth but its usage for astrology is REAL. What is so hard to understand? :star_struck:
