Wanna hear a poem I made?
Sure!
My teacher gave us a paragraph and told us to remake it and use more flavorful vocabulary.
The paragraph is as following:
There was a monster in the castle. It growled and was unhappy. He was unhappy because he was hungry. He ate. He was happy again.
I originally wanted to do usual dark short stories as I usually do, but then I thought of doing a poem. I added to it and might change it in the future, but it turned out really well, and the whole class liked it!
The poem is as follows:
It came from the castle above yonder Haunting the village like a phantom, its soul to wander
What it wants we ponder
But who are we to stop it
It silences us, our throats are slit
It hears our cries, today it dies
Our lives cut short
Our souls abort
To this horrid reign, nothing to gain because we are slain
The corpses’ blood to forever drain
To feed the phantom, to feed our disdain
Mind you that this is the first time in at least a few years that I tried making a poem, and that I usually don’t try poetry nor see it as something I am good at!

I know someone who talks using the most simple words possible, but can write poetry using words I have never heard of. Its super weird, but cool at the same time.

Yeah. They must deliberately either talk simple (which, in a sense, is good) or really study to use those extra words in poems. It’s not so much of the rhyming as is the sense of really knowing how those words go together.
Yeah, but usually I type fast and can think fast when it comes to writing. (I talk a lot)
(Hint: I also looked up words that rhyme when I couldn’t think of any right away)
That was actually really cool. I was as surprised at myself as others, even more, probably! However, I have made some ridiculous short stories, which I now see actually is a lot harder than making this poem for some reason.
I can DM them if ya want.
Even if I used Google I wouldn’t be able to do that.
