Normally if I post a link somewhere like Twitter or Facebook there’s a little preview window of the site I’m linking. When I use my site it’s really just the name and some little box, but no preview. Is there a way to fix that?

I’m afraid not
For Facebook, could you add some code to make it easier to share from your website? I think you may use an image if you use the feed method.
Not sure if that helps.
I don’t think that would work as stated by @Frank419
Yeah, I wasn’t able to get it to work. I could get the image to show using the share method and pointing to an image on the site, but when I tried specifying the picture parameter for the feed method, it looks like Facebook doesn’t perform the same retrieval for the image. My apologies. I think Facebook needs to lookup the word deprecated. They seem to be mistaking it for disabled/removed.
The same security system that blocks the requests from Facebook to lookup the OpenGraph data on the page, also blocks requests to specific images from your site. So the reason it doesn’t work is not a Facebook issue, it’s a restriction of free hosting.
I have seen this reply before on other questions, but how is having a preview when I post the link “file-sharing”? What file is being shared? And how does having that preview change it from hosting a website. Like when my sites were on GoDaddy they showed up fine, but they were still hosted websites accessed through web browsers.
Is this also why in 2025 it doesn’t show up right on Mobile? It sounds like Hostinger might be a better place for it.
S then even the cheapest paid hosting like Hostinger would be a much better choice.
Yes, paid hosting is generally better than free hosting. It’s also, crucially, not free.
If you need the features of paid hosting and are willing to pay for the hosting, just get paid hosting.
If you think Hostinger is cheap, you’ll never believe your eyes when you see iFastNet’s pricing. iFastNet’s starter plan is even cheaper than Hostinger’s cheapest plan.
And unlike the cheap rates Hostinger advertises, iFastNet’s prices are the real prices, not just some introductory offer. You get the rates shown at iFastNet with only a single year of hosting, without being forced to pay for four years to get the best rates. And after that year, you can just renew for exactly the same prices again, unlike Hostinger where the “$2.99 per month” hosting suddenly costs $10.99 per month when it becomes time to renew.
It has nothing to do with file sharing. The security system that the article Frank sent talks about is designed to make sure your website is only being used from actual web browsers. “File sharing” is just one of several examples of restrictions that the article lists.
Previews on social media sites don’t work because the bot on their end that crawls the site to generate the preview isn’t allowed access due to it not being a web browser either.
Hostinger is consistently rated to be the best or one of the best in reviews and the site you linked is never even mentioned. I go with reviews.
IFastNet are the company who provide the infrastructure that Infinity Free runs on.
Honestly it has really good reviews too. It just doesn’t often appear in the lists of best hosting services, because they don’t pay for lots of ads ect
Instead most of their business strategy seems to be based around their “mofh” model (providing a service to sites like this one) and the premium upgrades.
It’s worth a look. But ultimately do what you feel is best
iFastNet is less well know, but that doesn’t mean their services are not good.
Hostinger may have good reviews, but they also provide very high affiliate commission. And many “Top X hosting providers” sites claim they rank by quality, but actually rank them by which one will give them the most revenue if you sign up through them.
To be clear, I’m not saying Hostinger is bad. But I will say that if you want cheap but good hosting, please do at least consider iFastNet. They are good, and definitely cheaper. Regardless, both are probably better than free hosting.
Fun fact: Google, Microsoft, Apple, and other biggest companies that supports your every day life have the lowest review score you might ever imagine.
Reviews are not that trustworthy in my opinions.
Especially when it looks to good to be true.

Hi all. It was not working for a long time (even with open graph tags) and one day for some reason it started to work. My picture is displayed now when I post on Facebook. Unfortunately, I cannot give you the example with my free website hosted in Infinityfree, since it is considered as spam. Feel free to contact me in private if desired. Patrick.
