I installed WordPress. I even upgraded it to the latest version. I got to my site: guess what? It’s not there. I go to the ‘software installer’ on the Cpanel and there’s an option to install WordPress.
Not happy.

Are you sure the installation was successful to the correct domain? Check the file manager / FTP to see if you accidentally installed it elsewhere on the account.
In any case, this sounds like a new installation, so just run the installer again.
I can’t log in to the cpanel now. It won’t accept my password. I thing I’ll end up going with the other hosting site I found. It can’t be this problematic. If it takes forever to just get started - there’s no point.
Can’t log in now. Even though I took a picture and wrote down my password.
Really sorry to hear you’re having problems. thats not the norm, I assure you.
If you’re having problems logging in, your best bet is probably to do a password reset through the “I forgot my password” button
I understand that you’re saying you didn’t forget, but maybe a typo or something caused the wrong password when you signed up. Things happen.
Once you’re logged back in, As Greenreader9 said, try running the wordpress installer again. If you’re still having problems let us know and we can try to help ![]()
I’m sure I did it correctly - I found the WordPress part. The entire site is just confusing and the ‘Softaculous’ site is buggy as all heck. It’s awful. I am sure I am insulting whomever created it but it’s DOWNRIGHT AWFUL!
I logged in finally - same username and password and it just took me to the control panel - that Softaculous site where I already was. It shows an option to install Wordpress which I already installed. I might still forget it because when I create my page - I just think these ‘strange’ site quirks will present some obstacle and I got a headache trying to use all this.
Many many people use wordpress here, and it works just like an install anywhere else.
I am going to let you in on a secret though. If you want help with something, coming in guns blazing with anger and insults wont help you.
This is a community forum and we all try our best to help each other.
@nodice This is a free hosting service, you can’t expect everything to be perfect, or no one would buy the paid version. Just like Dan said, coming here angry at us will not help you.
That means it is not installed.
So, when I type my domain, ‘ e.g. ‘domainname.free.nf/wordpress-admin’ - it won’t go anywhere?
Because, when I type that in - I get the Word Press Dashboard screen.
Edit: Wait… new question: Did I install it and then it ‘uninstalled’ when I upgraded the WP version? Because, that software panel only goes up to 6.8.2 and there was an option to install/upgrade 6.8.3 which is the latest - so, I did.
In ‘Overview’ of the Word Press section - I clicked that button and at the bottom, there’s a category/section “Current Installations’ (1) - and ver. 6.8.3 is listed there.
Whatever, dude. The ‘cpanel’ or whatever it is, is terrible! Can’t log in - and when I want a certain setting, I am supposed to log in there. There is no support for that here. Just nitpicky ppl like you that doesn’t help.
I wasn’t being nitpicky, I was reminding you that you’ll get more help if you’re polite. Especially since this is a community forum and none of us work for InfinityFree (except admin, whos the owner).
If you want professional help with web hosting, who won’t call you out on being rude to people, then you’ll likely have to pay for that service.
Which Cpanel are you on about? because if you’re logged into your dash board, and go to the control panel there then it should log you in automatically:
Same for the script installer.
(If either of these don’t log you in, then close the tab, refresh your dashboard and then reload them, sometimes the login stuff times out and needs refreshing)
BUT if you’re on about the control panel for your WordPress site, that’s nothing to do with Infinity free, and is enterally down to how you set up your site.
wordpress-admin indeed doesn’t take you anywhere. It should be wp-admin.
No.
If you are talking about cpanel.infinityfree.com then you don’t login to it with an email. You login to it with a different set of credential.
If you are talking about Softaculous then you simply cannot login to it directly.
I can’t remember now. I’m using the Dashboard/WP now. If it happens, I’ll take a note of it. But, I wasn’t able to log in to the cpanel - I forget what link brought me to that page, though. The username/password wouldn’t be accepted. There was some other thread of someone claiming the cpanel was ‘broken.’ Not sure what that is about.
That other thread was unrelated to this, are you using your FTP login for the cPanel? (They are the same)
The only place where you’d generally have to enter a password to get access to it is our client area (and even that’s optional if you are using social logins or passwords).
Please be aware that hosting a WordPress website with us means you’ll need to interact with a number of different systems, which each have their own credentials, including:
if0_12345678) and your hosting account password, or you can login using the buttons in the client area./wp-admin after your website URL. You can also use the admin login button from Softaculous, but given that you have to go through both Softaculous and the client area first, I suggest just logging in to your website directly. While our integration with Softaculous is admittedly a bit janky, this distinction of client portal, hosting account and website administration is how most hosting providers work.
