Weird Inconsistencies in file finding

404: File Not Found

Other Information

Since my site is for a webcomic, all my files are named “MM#.png”, with “#” being a numeral 1-7 and all comics being located in the same folder. The main page runs a javascript to show and link to whichever the current number is, and for half of the files, it works. #3 did not upload, presumably due to being too large; fair enough. 5 and 7 are listed among the files, but for some reason, they each generate a 404 despite there being nothing in the name or location that should separate them from the herd so to speak. I tested the files’ validity by downloading them directly from the site editing page I reach by logging in, and they download fine with no errors. The weirdest part, though: I renamed MM4 to MM3 (putting it in the place of the missing one) and reloaded the site. The link to MM3 still points to a 404 error, and the link to MM4 still conjures what SHOULD now be MM3. What is even going on? I hope I have explained my end of it clearly enough.

Try compressing your images, they are very large. Also try clearing your cache

I checked the file sizes. While 5 is large, 7 is actually well under a megabyte and therefore size can’t be its problem. I also cleared my browser cache, but the problem persists: the site does not behave as if the MM4 was renamed.

Correction: there must have been a delay, because it seems to work now. Thank you!
