Website Unreachable After SSL Renewal - ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED (Works via VPN)

Website URL

www.alidemirci.site

Error Message

Your connection was interrupted. A network change was detected. ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED

Other Information

Hello,

I’m encountering an issue after renewing my SSL certificate, and I would appreciate your assistance.

Everything was working fine until my previous 30-day SSL certificate expired. I then followed these steps:

  1. I generated a new certificate on ZeroSSL.

  2. I installed the new Private Key and Certificate on the InfinityFree control panel (cPanel $\rightarrow$ SSL/TLS).

  3. My domain is configured to use Cloudflare/InfinityFree nameservers (please confirm which is relevant).

  4. I also manually checked and updated the CNAME records as required for the ZeroSSL validation.

The Problem:

My website, www.alidemirci.site, is now completely inaccessible from my local network (and apparently other regular networks, as I haven’t heard otherwise). When I try to visit the site, I receive the error message: “Your connection was interrupted. A network change was detected. ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED”.

Key Observation (VPN Access):

I have discovered that the website loads perfectly fine and displays the secure padlock (HTTPS) when accessed through a VPN. This suggests the issue is not with the certificate itself or the hosting setup, but likely related to a local network/ISP filtering or a lingering network/DNS/SSL cache issue, which is often seen in the forum.

ZeroSSL Status Concern:

Could the problem be related to the final ZeroSSL installation step? The ZeroSSL site is currently stuck on the message: “It looks like your certificate has not been installed yet. Please check for errors and try again.” (Screenshot attached if possible). However, I manually installed the certificate on the InfinityFree panel.

Questions:

  1. Given the ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED error and the fact that the site works via VPN, is this a known ISP/Network issue (perhaps related to an outdated DNS or SSL cache), or is it a problem on the hosting side?

  2. Does the “certificate not installed” message on ZeroSSL’s site indicate a required final step that I missed in the process with InfinityFree, even though I manually uploaded the key and certificate?

  3. Are there any specific steps I should take on the InfinityFree side (e.g., waiting for DNS propagation, clearing a specific cache, or using a specific tool) to ensure the newly uploaded certificate is fully recognized and served correctly?

Any guidance on resolving this is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

The ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED error code, like the name suggests, happens if your network connection was changed while the page was being requested. For example, when switching between WiFi networks.

If this happens frequently, the most common answers I see online tell you to do things like restart your router, reset your network settings, or check your proxy settings.

In any case, the error indicates that YOUR network changed, so it’s unrelated to our hosting, or anything you do on our hosting.

It tells me that there is an issue with your network connection or your router. If your website was not working, you also wouldn’t be able to reach it over a VPN.

I have no idea, we’re not ZeroSSL. I don’t know how their check works, so I don’t know why it says what it says.

We have our own SSL check you can also try. Simply go to your hosting account, click Manage next to your domain, and then go to SSL Certificates.

SSL certificates can take up to an hour to take effect on our hosting. There is no cache you can clear, and it’s unrelated to DNS, you just need to wait for our servers to apply the changes.

As for the whole ZeroSSL thing: if you’re happy with how it works right now, please don’t let me tell you what to do. But please be aware that we also provide free SSL certificates, which is actually integrated with our hosting so it’s a lot easier to use.
