Website flagged by Google Safe Browsing as “Deceptive Site”

Beep boop, I’m a bot! I dug through the forum to get you started. I sometimes get things wrong though, so do with this what you will until a human has a look.

We can’t remove this warning, and we can’t investigate it either. The knowledge base article says only Google can remove a Safe Browsing listing, and only after you request a review. The article is here:

Your account is also fairly new, and the article says new sites with little history are judged more strictly. A site can get flagged as a false positive when the first thing visitors see is a login form, with little else to explain what the site is. It can also happen if the site copies another company’s login page, name or logo, or if it was hacked and someone added phishing pages.

Empty example URLs in Search Console don’t clear your site. The article says the examples are only a sample, and other pages on the site may have the same problem.

What is the site for, and what does a visitor see first at /WifiCare/? If it opens on a login form, or uses the name or look of another service, that is the likely cause.

To check the listing, enter the address in the Safe Browsing site status page:

If the site is legitimate, the article suggests this:

  • Put a public homepage with real content in front of any login.
  • Say who runs the site and add contact details.
  • Use your own branding.

After that, request one review in Search Console and explain clearly what the site and its login are for. If you can’t use Search Console, you can use Google’s report error form instead:
