Just wondering what the process is for getting a new script added to the script installer menu?
I’d really like to install Wazuh agent for monitoring my website, but as it requires ssh to install the agent, I’m currently unable to install it. So I was hoping there was a process for requesting new scripts to be added to the script installer menu.
The major issue is not you have to use SSH to install it; the issue is that it requires root and is installed to the entire server.
There’s simply no way to run it on free hosting, or shared hosting in general. And there’s absolutely no way of adding it to Softaculous.
The script installer is Softaculous, it’s built by a company with the same name. We don’t control what software they add, but we can make a request.
But that does require the software to actually be website software, and Wazuh Agent is not.
Scrolling through the website of Wazuh for a bit tells me that it is some kind of security protection and analysis platform?
If so, please understand that you cannot install a virus scanner on a computer you do not own. The web hosting servers are managed by us, and you’ll need to trust that we have taken adequate precautions to secure our servers.
If you are subject to a security policy that mandates that this software is installed everywhere, then it means you cannot use any web hosting service, and must maintain your own (virtual) servers instead. Or, if you just don’t trust us, then why are you hosting anything with us in the first place?
Ok, yeah, well that makes sense. I previously hosted my site on a Google cloud instance and wasn’t entirely sure how a web hosting platform worked differed from a VPS, so thanks for explaining it.
Sorry, I wasn’t trying to imply that InfinityFree wasn’t secure, I totally trust that this platform is secure and so far I think it’s awesome, I’m really happy with the service you provide.
I don’t necessarily need Wazuh agent, I just had it installed on my Google cloud instance so I could learn more about it, and it was crazy seeing all of the attempted logins and other info it reported, but I can totally live without it.
This is the first time I’ve ever used a web hosting platform (instead of a VPS), so I wasn’t entirely sure how it’s structured compared to a VPS, but Frank419’s response made total sense.

No worries, I didn’t think you were trying to imply that our service was not secure. It’s just that any web hosting service is a very different service from a cloud server.
With a cloud server, you get full control (and therefore full responsibility) over the operating system, meaning that you are responsible for installing, configuring, securing and monitoring the processes that run on the server. With a web hosting account, the hosting provider does all of that, so you don’t need to worry about that and can just focus on your website.
This means web hosting is less versatile than having your own server, but also a lot less of a hassle because most of the work to keep your website up and running is done by the hosting provider.
