The SSL Certificate has been pending for 2-3, months. There doesn’t seem to be any clear indication of its progress or if it’s missing anything from me. I believe I have the DNS record set-up, and I don’t think it needs anything from me, but my understanding is that this should have been done by now.
Any ideas?

I’ve already done that twice, and after doing some more research at the time I saw suggestions saying not to do that because the solution can be just to wait. I suppose I’ll do that a third time, and if nothing I’ll just give up on this site.

The Request certificate button adds your domain to the verification queue, it might not happen immediately so pressing a few more times will make the verification hash not match with your first attempt causing more delays under the hood. Unfortunately the .well-known verification is not transparent to the user so the general idea is to wait.
Wait 1-2 days before revisiting and you should see a “Install automatically” button to get it on.

I don’t know where you get that info from. Cause we would always tell you to click the “Request Certificate” button.
The only thing you can wait for is the CNAME itself. The steps after that cannot be waited for.
And sometimes the button did won’t work. That’s why you should try a few more times before asking on the forum right away.
The certificate issuance takes a few minutes at most in normal situations, and never more than an hour.
Don’t wait for 1-2 days. You’d be wasting your time for no reason.
As a rule of thumb: if the Request Certificate button is clickable, then click it.
If you click the button, you should see a loading bar appear where the button was. If you don’t see a loading bar right away, just click the button again. If you see the loading bar first, and after some time it disappears, just click the button again.
No idea where you saw this. Waiting will NEVER solve this issue. Nothing will happen unless you make it happen.
I’m seeing a lot of topics recently where people report issues like yours, where they (claim to have) clicked the button and nothing happened.
But what’s odd is that when looking at the logs, I see no record of the order having been attempted. And when I click the button, it always works perfectly and provides the certificate.
I’m going to add some debug logging to see what the issue is. Either clicking the button doesn’t properly trigger the issuance process, or there is some terrible UX problem that makes people believe they clicked a button which they didn’t click. Regardless, something needs to be adjusted in the panel.
