I am setting mx on the host with infinityfree but still getting above error(This feature is not available for subdomains.)

As the error message explains, you can now add MX and SPF records only for custom domains, not for free subdomains.

I have another account where I used mx spf and worked flawlessly not sure about this

This is a recent change to the hosting platform. You can no longer add new MX or SPF records for your free subdomain, but the recods added before the bug was fixed should remain.
