Rewriting URL's

Hello, this is not hosting support, but some doubts.
Can we rewrite URLs as file directories? Google didn’t help me with that :(.

Ex. domain.com/file.php?id=xx as domain.com/file/xx?

But this is still hosting support, as you are facing issues.
