Request to Enable Telegram Bot API & Webhooks + Alternative Hosting Suggestions

I am hosting my website https://desix.infy.uk/ on InfinityFree, which is a URL shortener service.

I am currently developing a Telegram bot that will allow users to shorten links directly through Telegram using my website’s API. However, I understand that Telegram API and webhook requests are restricted.

I would like to kindly request permission for the following:

  1. Allow incoming webhook requests from Telegram servers to my domain.
  2. Allow outgoing requests to the Telegram Bot API (https://api.telegram.org).
  3. Allow external API calls required for URL shortening functionality.

This bot will only be used for legitimate URL shortening purposes and will comply with all hosting policies.

Additionally, if this setup is not fully supported on InfinityFree, could you please suggest any recommended alternatives or best practices for implementing such a Telegram bot?

Not only it’s not possible but also that you’re better off asking for alternatives on general hosting forums. Like why would you expect someone advertising competing services here…

I’m sorry, but what you’re asking for is indeed not going to work on our hosting.

  • Receiving webhooks and API requests from anywhere is not supported on our hosting.
  • Access to the Telegram API is blocked on our hosting (due to abuse/spam).
  • Hosting URL shorteners on our hosting is not outright prohibited, but frowned upon because URL shorteners are often used to disguise links to harmful content. You can host them with us, but we will hold you responsible for the links created, and may suspend or terminate your service if there are harmful links. If it’s indeed used for “legitimate URL shortening purposes”, then all is good, but you need to make sure that this actually happens, and not just put up a note asking people nicely.

iFastNet’s premium hosting doesn’t restrict those first two issues. I’m not sure what the policy is regarding URL shorteners on premium hosting, but I do know that they are generally more relaxed with policy enforcement there. But if you’re thinking of hosting your project there, I strongly recommend to ask them first.
