Can you try this

> [@How to Release a Domain From Another Hosting Account](https://forum.infinityfree.com/t/how-to-release-a-domain-from-another-hosting-account/120677/1):
>
> A domain name can only be used on one hosting account at a time. If you try to add your domain and it’s already in use on somebody else’s account, you can remove it from that account yourself by releasing it. To release a domain, you need to prove that you control it by making a change to its DNS settings. Once we can see that change, you can release the domain and add it to your own account. Requirements You can only release a domain if: It’s a custom domain. Free subdomains, like example.i…

I’m assuming that you’ve already tried what @KangJL suggested judging by this sentence:

The domain claim system is the way forward. If you’re stuck, we’re happy to help, but we need a bit more from you than “it still doesn’t work”. What issue are you running into exactly with teh domain claim system?

Hi, I’m having an issue releasing my custom domain, [routeeka.com](http://routeeka.com), so I can add it to my InfinityFree hosting account.

I created a new InfinityFree hosting account and first created a temporary free hosting subdomain. When I tried to add [routeeka.com](http://routeeka.com) as my custom domain, InfinityFree said:

“The selected custom domain is already in use on InfinityFree. If this is your custom domain, please remove it from any other accounts first.”

As I own the domain and cannot remove it from another account, I selected the “Release a domain” option.

InfinityFree then instructed me to add a CNAME record to my domain’s DNS

I added this CNAME record in Namecheap, which is where I manage [routeeka.com](http://routeeka.com). The record is showing correctly in Namecheap, with TTL set to Automatic

However, InfinityFree still says

“The required DNS changes were not found yet. DNS changes can take a few hours to take effect. Please verify that the correct changes have been applied, and try again later.”

I have been repeatedly checking the verification, but it still hasn’t detected the record. It has now been several hours.

DNS changers usually propergate within 24 hours but can take up to 72 hours so you might need to wait a little bit longer

I checked it, and it looks like the CNAME record was setup incorrectly.

The CNAME record should be setup at `_infinityfree-verification.routeeka.com`, but it isn’t.

Hazarding a guess, I also checked `_infinityfree-verification.routeeka.com.routeeka.com`, and that’s where the CNAME record is setup.

So please edit the record for `_infinityfree-verification.routeeka.com` in Namecheap, and rename it to just `_infinityfree-verification`. Namecheap adds your domain name at the end, so you need to remove that from the record name.

Give it a few hours to take effect, and then check it again. You should then be able to reclaim your domain.
