[OUTAGE] Domain ct.ws and wuaze.com are down - 15 May 2026

OK, I finally got a reply from our registrar about what happened here.

Why are the domains down?

Our registrar (Namecheap) received a notice that required them to take down the domains ct.ws and wuaze.com. The notice is in relation to an Indian court order regarding a number of illegal sports streaming sites. Namecheap is required to act, and the only thing they can do is take down the entire domain, regardless of the collateral damage to numerous legitimate websites.

What is needed to get the domains restored?

Namecheap is bound by the court order, so there are two paths to restore this. Either the rights holder needs to give Namecheap permission to restore the domains, or the decision needs to be overturned by an Indian court.

I’ve already reached out to the rights holder’s lawyers and hope we can clear this up with them.

When will the domain names be restored?

It’s hard to say at this point.

At best, the rights holder’s lawyers respond quickly and cooperatively, and we’ll be able to resolve this within this week.

If not, then it could potentially take weeks or more for this to get resolved.

What should you do?

While the domain is down, your site won’t receive traffic, which can eventually trigger an inactivity suspension. While you can reactivate the account yourself for a while, please make sure you have a recent backup of your site files and database just in case the suspension flies under the radar.

If your site is time-sensitive and you can’t wait, you can assign a new subdomain to your account from one of our other domains, and migrate your website to it. Your account stays the same, only the subdomain changes. If ct.ws or wuaze.com come back, you can switch back at any time.

In the worst case, if the domains can’t be recovered, affected sites would need to move to a different subdomain permanently. I don’t expect this to happen, but want to be upfront about it as a possibility.
