Nothing Seems to Work - Is This Service Still Managed By Someone?

Website URL

rogerdavies.co.uk

Basically very little seems to work here. It was recommended by a friend who claims to have made good use of this 6 months ago.

I’ve updated the nameservers, but not been able to use a custom domain, none of the DNS resolves for me - not even the http://rogerdavies.great-site.net subdomain I chose when I the nameservers for InfinityFree clearly didn’t work

I tried uploading files via the file manager which just errors, (but was able to successfully upload a file by FTP)

So very little appears to work, the hosting doens’t work at all nor the DNS (specifically the Nameservers don’t seem to be returning any response)

Admittedly, I’ve not got as far as trying the PHP environment or MySQL as there seems little point

Just a quick message to see if this service is still going and whether it’s worth persevering

Error Message

(please share the FULL error message you see, if applicable)

Other Information

(other information and details relevant to your question)

Did you upload the files to the /htdocs folder? Is one of those files an index file? Because the domain you shared is working just fine.

(And yes, this is still maintained)

For each of these things I’m getting a different error, both those links I shared have an NXDOMAIN error

The SSL doesn’t install giving an error that it couldn’t find the verification record (which never actually happens in practice, typically when using a service like Lets Encrypt it does not rely on the DNS cache) so there should be no delay here at all

I then tried one of the other providers which (for me) on Https gives SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

If I could see even one service work without error I think it would be different

It’s fine, I’ve deactivated my account, you can delete this thread

Please note that due to DNS caching, it can take up to 72 hours for your website to start working everywhere.

A new domain name not working within 2 hours is perfectly normal, and can happen with any DNS on any hosting at any provider.

The free hosting nameservers are geo-distributed, with all kinds of queues and caches in between for performance and scalability. The client area does check for you if it can detect whether the CNAME records are setup, but the SSL providers themselves are likely to hit different servers which may be serving slightly different data.

So if you get one of those not found errors, it usually just means you need to try again in an hour or so.
