My site is being flagged because of unknown TLS signature?

Site flagged because unknown TLS signature.

(please share the FULL error message you see, if applicable)

My site was flagged by google because apparently the SSL certificate that I recieved from InfinityFree has an unknown TLS signature. How do I get this resolved? I was issued the SSL from Google Trust Services LLC.

Try if these fixes work:

or get ssl from another provider

Thank you for the reply. I have identified that the TLS chain is incomplete for the certificate that I was issued through InfinityFree. I’m not sure now who to contact to try and resolve this issue or what my next steps are.

request a new certificate?

I have tried all three available from InfinityFree and I get the same issue:

What is your domain name?

The issue is probably with your device/browser/network

Sorry, I’m not sure I trust to post the URL here…
But this is the summary I was provided by Qualys SSL Labs:

You can’t trust external tools like that since the security system on IF prevents them from working properly. You need to use your browsers built-in tools to test the certificate, or use a proxy like Cloudflare.

Thank you. Using Chrome i checked the SSL cert and it says it’s valid and trusted. So it seems I’m also flagged as a deceptive site. Yikes. I don’t understand because they don’t tell me which part of my code is deceptive nor do they describe what my site seems to be doing that is dangerous. It’s just a simple message board type site that asks for no personal info at all. Do you have much experience with this type of issue?

That’s Google. Add the site to search console and ask them to take a look.

Yes, that’s correct.

Although technically, that’s not a problem with the certificate itself, but rather how it’s installed. But free hosting doesn’t support uploading the full chain, so there isn’t really any way to fix this.

This part seems a bit hard to believe to me. The issue you see with the SSL chain is present on every single website hosted with us (that use SSL), and most websites are not flagged by Google.

Did Google tell your website was flagged because of the way SSL is setup on your site? Or is this just your own theory? I don’t blame you for looking for possible reasons, but let’s not waste our time to fix a non-issue that won’t solve your actual issue.

Hi, thank you for the repy. Sorry, I didn’t get back here sooner to respond. I want to clarify that I didn’t know for sure if Google was flagging my site due to the TLS issue, but that issue was addressed ealier in this post.

I had used a third-party site to scan my URL to help me troubleshoot the reason for the flag and that site gave me a result that showed both the incomplete SSL chain and the Google flagging next to each other, so that is where I drew the conclusion that those two issues must be related somehow. So I hope I didn’t offend or confuse anyone here. I apologize for anything like that. I’m just a dude trying to sort out his mess.

This problem occurs with my site too. Sometimes, when I try to open my site from by browser, a TLS certificate is flagged. Some other times, it just works fine. However, if I open Login to your account - InfinityFree and then load my site, the problem gets resolved automatically.

Thank you for the tip!
