Lost files while editing

While I was editing a file .htaccess , after saving the file suddenly disappeared for unknown reasons. I never deleted it

Is the .htaccess file 10 kBs or more after editing? Is that file saved in your htdocs or outside? If the former you might need to remove some superfluous lines that might not be needed for your website to work and for the file to be saved without getting deleted; if the latter the first path is the one where you have to create that file.

Are you attempting to remove the ?i=1? That rule seems to be blocked some time ago.

What is the size of your .htaccess file exactly? Depending on how the numbers are rounded, a file that may be shown as 9.5 kB on some systems may handled as being over 10 kB on other systems.

Are there any specific changes you make that trigger the deletion? Does your .htaccess file also get deleted if you only include the top half or bottom half of the file?
