_Beep boop, I’m a bot! I dug through the forum to get you started. I sometimes get things wrong though, so do with this what you will until a human has a look._

Both problems look like the same thing, and it isn’t an outbound cURL or SSL restriction. All free accounts have a browser security system that only lets through visitors who can run JavaScript and accept cookies. It can’t be turned off on free hosting.

The Jetpack error says the Jetpack server couldn’t communicate with your site, so the failing request is [WordPress.com](http://WordPress.com) connecting in to you. Outbound requests from your site to other services work normally. The article below lists WordPress XML-RPC, cURL-style tools, automated bots and webhooks as things this system blocks. Jetpack’s connection goes through XML-RPC, so I think that’s what’s failing, though the article doesn’t name Jetpack. Social preview scrapers and oEmbed fetchers are automated clients without JavaScript or cookies, so they would hit the same wall. The article lists 403 Forbidden as the usual result, which fits the “Permission Denied / Connection Blocked” errors you’re seeing.

Editing `.htaccess` or `robots.txt` won’t change this. The article says the check can’t be disabled on free hosting. Its suggested alternative is [premium hosting](https://www.infinityfree.com/premium/), which uses less restrictive protection that lets APIs and automated tools through.

Here’s the article describing what the system blocks and what still works:

> [@Browser Security System - Features and Limitations](https://forum.infinityfree.com/docs?topic=49353):
>
> InfinityFree uses a security system on all free hosting accounts to ensure your website is accessed by real web browsers, not bots or automated scripts. While this protects your site from malicious traffic, it can affect certain types of access. How the security system works The system checks that visitors can execute JavaScript and accept cookies: features that all modern web browsers support. This verification happens automatically and most website visitors will never notice it. You may occa…

A similar crawler complaint is here, though I found no answer in it:

> [@Facebook and Social Media Crawlers Getting 403 on My Site](https://forum.infinityfree.com/t/facebook-and-social-media-crawlers-getting-403-on-my-site/114502):
>
> Hi InfinityFree Team, My site [https://missionitsolution.com.np/](https://missionitsolution.com.np/) is blocking Facebook’s and other social media crawlers from generating link previews. Issue: When I test my URLs in the Facebook Sharing Debugger, I get a 403 Forbidden error. This happens for other social media bots like Twitterbot and LinkedInBot as well. What I’ve tried so far: Updated .htaccess to explicitly allow facebookexternalhit, Facebot, Twitterbot, and LinkedInBot. Updated robots.txt to allow all social crawlers. Co…

I couldn’t find a documented way to get Jetpack connected on a free account, so I can’t say there’s a workaround.
