Français :
Un hébergement qui se veut gratuit, mais où il est impossible d’installer la dernière version de PrestaShop… Quelle perte de temps. Allez, je retourne vers des hébergeurs plus sérieux.
Anglais :
A hosting service that claims to be free, but where installing the latest version of PrestaShop is impossible… What a waste of time. I’m going back to more reliable hosting providers.
The price of a hosting service, and the ability to install one specific tool are completely unrelated.
looking at the technical requirements of PrestaShop:
PHP8 or higher, MySQL 5.7 or higher, with a MySQL extension enabled.
doesn’t look like it should be a problem, but I’ve honestly not tried. Are you getting a specific error message? Maye something we can help you work around\fix?
I performed an automatic installation of the latest PrestaShop version via Softaculous.
This version is stated to be compatible with PHP 8 and above.
However, when accessing the back office, I only get a blank page.
I’ve tried reinstalling it several times, but the issue persists.
Have you already tested this on your side or encountered a similar issue?
After reading this thread I decided to install prestashop to see what the issue is, sadly I didn’t get to test it as the software failed to install with an error about cookies
I just tried again, but same issue:
Three attempts, and the file and folder copy process stops at 95%. The installation seems to complete, but I can’t log into the back office.
Tried creating a new admin account via Softaculous, but no luck there either.
Honestly, I’ve wasted enough time on this.
This free host might be fine for very basic static sites, but for anything else, I’d rather not take the risk.
Thanks for letting us know about this, I’ll look into this issue.
That said, I have one question. You say:
So far you only talk about issues in Softaculous. But you’re by no means required to use Softaculous to setup your website. All software in Softaculous can also be installed by just following the installation instructions from the software vendor itself.
Softaculous is a lot easier of course, and this should be addressed. But to call it “impossible” to install PrestaShop is not fair if you completely ignore a fairly obvious alternative installation process.
I just tested it and I was able to install PrestaShop with Softaculous.
The initial attempt failed with Softaculous reporting “connection lost”, but that might have been on my end. After deleting the failed installation and trying again, I had a working PrestaShop installation installed.
I also had no problems using the admin interface.
So I don’t know why you had problems. But it doesn’t look to me that there is some breaking compatibility issues between PrestaShop and our hosting.
