Is there a way to block an IP address without taking hits?

If some user uses a script/bot to spam my site with requests, what should I do to block them? I can make a list of blocked IP addresses on my server, and each time someone visits a page, the server checks to see if they’re on the block list. The problem is that spam requests still count as hits because the server has to take the hit first and then block them. How do I make my site completely ignore some IP addresses, so spammers cannot access my site at all?

Spam requests and ddosing

My multiple sites keep getting ddosed by somebody who is just holding down the refresh button all the time, the guy is in my school and I cant just block his ip because nobody will be able to go on my site in school. I have been looking for a wordpress plugin but I cant find any that will stop floods and I have no idea how to code in html or php or how to put php in my site. Denying spammers

I have placed some code on my website for bot protection (i.e. if there are too many pageviews I disallow them) to save on my daily hits and have some protection How do I adequately stop someone from accessing my site (and having a pageview) through automated code? (I already know about ip block)
