Other Information

I get this email almost every day. This is what my stats look like:

How can this be? I have a very simple website with less than 10 visitors on most days. What does it mean? What could be causing that? How can I find out? I have no idea…

I’ve also noticed my website is very slow to load when you enter it. I’ve always thought it’s because I have the free plan, but could it be that something is causing it? The thing that’s making me mysteriuosly reach 50% of my io limit? How can I find out?

Thanks.

The IO limit is hard to understand and explain. The short answer is that it tracks disk interactions of your website, so the amount data being read from and written to disk. The actual thing being measured is hard to explain.

As with all resource metrics, figuring out the actual reason is usually little more than an educated guess. The graph you see is the most detailed information we have.

As for your website, I checked it and see you have multiple backup and import plugins in your WordPress site. Plugins like that tend to interact with the storage a lot to read and write backups, which could explain the high IO usage.

Which plugins do you mean? I’ve re-checked my wordpress plugins and it seems like I only have a few pretty basic ones, I don’t know that any of them is supposed to perform backup or import anythings…

I see a wordpress-importer and something like WPvivid. The first probably does what it says on the tin and the second one is a backup plugin.

And just to be clear: this is a guess. I have no idea if this is actually the reason your account’s IO usage is high, and I’ll make not promises that removing these plugins will reduce your IO usage.
