How to update website?

Website URL

https://wystawianierecept.000.pe/recepta.html

I have a query why when I put new HTML, JS, CSS files… into the “htdocs” directory then the pages don’t update, it stays the same all the time.

Now I’m trying to add an image to the “htdocs” folder because I forgot to put it in and it didn’t display on the page and after putting it in it still doesn’t display.

So when I clear cache on my website (edge), my website will be updated?

I cleared the cache, but now I get a 404 error popping up all the time after typing “https://wystawianierecept.000.pe/recepta.html

Can you screenshot the domains root folder in the file manager? Be sure to include the entire file manager page in the screenshot.

None of your files seem to load for me… can you go into your client area’s “Domains” tab and see which directory your site is linked to? Here is mine as an example:

Ah, that’s why. It looks like you deleted that domains root folder, and are using the default htdocs folder which is no longer assigned to anything.

How to fix this:

  • Download a FTP client like FileZilla or WinSCP (I am not sure if the steps below will work in the online file manager)
  • Login with your FTP credentials
  • Create a folder and call it “wystawianierecept.000.pe” - OUTSIDE of the current htdocs folder
  • Back out of the new (and empty) folder
  • Click and drag the folder htdocs into the folder you just created wystawianierecept.000.pe

Clear your cache and reload your website

I don’t understand subsection 3/4/5. I created a folder (“”) what now?

Delete it, and create a new folder - this time call it what I told you to call it:

Done, now drag folder “wystawianierecept.000.pe” into folder htdocs? After this clear the cache and reload the website.

No, keep that folder outside htdocs, create a folder named htdocs in the same folder however.

No, the other way around. Drag the htdocs folder into the “wystawianierecept.000.pe” folder.

Then clear your cache

Now I have double.

The file manager tends to duplicate the contents of uploaded files for some reason. We’re not quite sure yet why this happens. I suggest to reupload your website files with FileZilla and overwriting the current files with ones that are correct.

@lighting

I just noticed that in your screenshots from monstaFTP the URL is visible (on the forum for 24+ hours)

I changed the pictures, but be sure to change the FTP password via the Client area !!!
because anyone who knows that URL can access your FTP

Avoid taking pictures of this part in the future

You should change the password via the “Account Settings” option in the client area:

Hosting account passwords are different from your client area ones.
