How to return domain

Hello everyone!

I managed to create a WordPress website on InfinityFree with a domain as: name-surname.rf.gd but now I want to use my custom domain that I have confirmed namesurname.from.hr as a default. I cannot see the option to make it default just as an alias.

When I try to delete the free domain it warns me my data will be lost so I don’t want to do it. I was reading on the pages here that I have to create a totally new website and export the existing one and replace it there which makes no sense.

So that is why I am asking can I somehow replace the free domain with my custom as main domain and still have the hosting on InfinityFree without making a new website?

I have access to FTP and all the files are there and I made a copy version of them locally.

Thanks!

In the meantime I managed to delete all relevant domain and return them again. How can I setup one of three to be main, and others to be alias?

Hi MoreJokerCount,

Having the domain as alias with a free subdomain won’t have negative impact, simply change your website home_url in your WordPress settings to your custom domain will work as expected. When visitors use the free subdomain, they’ll be automatically redirected to the custom domain.

Cheers!

Hey chiucs123,

I am not sure if we understand each other. I have now the root htdocs folder with my WP files and three domains but only one custom domain and they all are added with a custom directory that has an empty htdocs. How can I make the custom domain my main domain? I see in DNS records they all have an A record. The other two domains created by Infinity Free when adding are not letting me to park them as an alias to the custom domain which I want to be main.

I hope I clarified better now.

Okay so the solution was to more the root htdocs via FTP to new domain folder and then to connect to PhpMyAdmin and change url for WP.

That’s one way of doing it as well. :+1:
