How do I find Cname record and A record for my site

Username epiz_27148879

I have bought my own domain name from LCN, but intend to host my website with you (already built and loaded into my Infinity account).

I want anyone typing in the URL I have purchased from LCN into their browser to land on what is currently hosted on Infinity.

I don’t know whether I have to move the purchased domain name to you or leave it with LCN and just have them point it to my Infinity site.

They, I think, have suggested the latter.

LCN say they need to know the A Record and Cname Record for katemercytest.epizy.com so that they can amend katemercy.co.uk to point to it.

How do I find the A Record and Cname Record for site I have built under my Infinity account ?

Your domain registrar is partially correct. Yes, you need to update the DNS settings of your domain name so the domain goes to our servers.

But you also need to add the domain name to your account here. Otherwise, the server doesn’t know which website to show on the domain.

We’ve described the whole process in this article:

It also describes a few different approaches you can take to set up the domain too.

So does this mean that I give the ns1.epizy.com and ns2.epizy.com information to my domain registrar for them to enter against my domain name ? Is this what they were referring to as the A Record and Cname Record ?

Then I addon a domain with you - and presumably I name this as identical to the domain name that I got from the domain registrar.

Is this correct ?

OK, I think I have now resolved this - your domain name server names have been added to the domain registrar site and I’ve added on a domain here. The URL appears to resolve as I wanted

Yep, it all seems to be setup correctly now!

Every domain name is handled by a set of so-called Nameservers. The Nameservers answer questions from other devices on the internet regarding which domains and services are handled by which servers. These settings in the nameservers are called DNS Records.

As a domain owner, you can usually choose which nameservers you want to use, which could be the nameservers of your domain name provider, your website hosting provider, or another party entirely.

I think the people of your domain registrar were directing you to setup the right DNS records in their nameservers. But our system doesn’t like that, so I proposed you used our nameservers instead, which already has all the right DNS records to make it work with our hosting. It’s less involved to use our nameservers instead of having to replicate the settings of our nameservers in another system.
