Since the last few days my site is getting constantly suspended by hit limits, even though I never get even close to suspension numbers “normally”
The 24 hours pass, the site is back for a few hours then (usually in the middle of the night) it randomly gets a enormous spike making it go down again
What’s happening? Is there a problem in the backend? Am I getting DDoS or something like that?
This site was for hosting guides for a obscure MMORPG, it’s been up for a while, even though multiple people use it regularly it was never enough to hit the limits, I haven’t updated the site in a few months, suddenly this started happening even though it was fine like a week ago with everything the same.
I’m sorry, but we don’t store access logs for free hosting account. All data immediately gets aggregated into the hits counter, and then discarded. So I have no way to see which requests we received for your account, which means I also have no way to know what could cause the spike in your hits usage.
Those are two possible options, yes. It could be caused by an attack on your website, or simply because your website has gotten more popular.
If you made a change to your code that results in users generating a more requests to the server, that could also result in increased hits usage. But if you say that the code wasn’t changed, it seems unlikely that this is the cause.
