Google Search Console Crawl Stats

https://whisperingsanctuary.com

From 5/8 through 6/22, GSC crawl stats indicate 11% Server Error (5XX).
49% related to html; 37% related to images.

Errors:

Host had problems last week
Robots.txt fetch High fail rate last week
Server connectivity High fail rate last week

The errors indicate last week but the 5XX failures have occurred every day for almost 2 months.

Is this to be expected from the free service?

Thanks!

It sounds like the browser security system is in effect, although I thought Google has an exception from this.

I’ve never had this happen myself.

I was hoping to hear from Admin on this post. It seems like a pretty significant issue, where 1 in 10 visitors have a problem viewing my website. If the answer is that it’s to be expected from a free service, so be it. I’d just like to see that stated. Thanks.

I can tell you that 1 in 10 requests failing is definitely not expected behavior of our hosting. Free hosting has limitation, but even on free hosting you should expect a more stable service than that.

As for why these errors happen then, I don’t know. 5xx errors are not even a specific error code, it’s a category of error codes, so it’s very vague.

Have you experience any errors yourself when trying to visit your website? Or have you heard about issues from anyone else?

Thank you for the quick and honest reply. I am not aware of any issues with my website.
I just happened to go to Settings in Google Search Console and clicked on the crawl stats. That’s where the report caught my eye. I’ll monitor this over the next few weeks to see if Google still reports an issue.

It’s really a surprisingly in-depth report. It shows the failed URLs of 941 jpg and gif images.

In all honesty, it might boil down to my webpages using a lot of simple, though deprecated code from back in the day. I would really hope that not to be the case. Thanks again.
