Hello, I just wanted to know how we can link an existing infinityfree account at our Google account.
What exactly do you mean by linking ? what do you want to link ?
I want I can connect to my InfinityFree account with my Google account.
I’m still not understanding what you mean by connect you your IF account with your google account ?
What do you mean by connect ?
Do you mean login via google ?
Yes. (Sory…)
Right, one click login via google is not available but you can register a gmail account by editing your profile in the dashboard and the forum
Personally I have gmail registered here and have my login saved on my browser for all of infinityfree (forum, cpanel, filemanager, dashboard) so that the login details are automatically filled in when I visit but not everyone likes to do that
Minor correction- you can log in with Google now.
However, I don’t know if it’s possible to link an already created client area account with a Google account like OP wants to do. There don’t seem to be any options for it in the profile settings of the client area.
wow that must be a new thing ! thanks and sorry
Heee… So, it’s not actually really possible ?
Well if its not possible now it probably will be very soon once Admin reads this
I just tried the sign in with google option a really old google account that I have never used with infinityfree but I’m waiting for a text from google with a pin code before I can use it
Signal must be bad today
The ability to login with Google was only added last week, so this is very new functionality, and only a first version.
Being able to link existing accounts with Google, or being able to unlink accounts from Google and switch back to password authentication, are both high on the list of priorities and should be available soon.
Once that’s added, the plan is also to add more authentication providers. I’m still undecided as to which other options would be good to support. Maybe I’ll do a poll here.
But there are a few other things that have to be done regarding profile management. That functionality hasn’t seen that much love over the last few years, and that’s making it hard to add more functionality to it.
If possible, I would also suggest linking Microsoft as an authentication provider. Maybe even Apple, but I don’t use that often.
I’m glad you are working on adding authentication providers as a form of login/sign up. I hope this works long-term, as this would be better than remembering another password
