Files src/XF/Data/Emoji.php and src/XF/Data/WebAuthn.phpupload successfully but disappear immediately from the server. They are not visible in File Manager or FTP, and XenForo file health check shows these files as missing. No upload error is shown, but files are auto-deleted right after being created/uploaded.
Other Information
These are legitimate core system files for XenForo forum software, not malicious files.
Path: htdocs/src/XF/Data/
I have tried: uploading via FTP binary mode, creating empty files, checking permissions, clearing cache.
Only these two PHP files are affected; other files upload and stay normally.
Please check if your security / ModSecurity / antivirus system is auto-removing them, and whitelist these files or the directory so they can be saved normally.
Also, just FYI: If you are going to host a $195 forum suite, you may want to put some money towards hosting it as well.
And if you didn’t pay that, then you are probably using an illegal, pirated copy of the software, which is not allowed on our hosting.
If you want to host a forum for free, there are plenty of excellent options that are completely free to begin with, such as MyBB or Vanilla Forums. If you want to give any of them a shot, we have a number of free forum packages available through Softaculous so you can easily install them and try them out.
Thanks for your reply! I was a bit surprised to hear back, but I appreciate the heads-up.
Just to confirm: I am using a genuine, properly licensed copy of XenForo (not pirated/illegal in any way). I know XenForo is a premium suite, but I’m using it for a tiny, non-profit Minecraft community with minimal traffic – it’s not a commercial project, so it doesn’t put any significant load on the hosting resources.
I totally understand your point about premium software on free hosting, and I’ll make sure to keep resource usage strictly within InfinityFree’s limits. Let me know if there’s anything I need to adjust to comply with your rules.
I’m just going to note that the Vanilla Forums listing in Softaculous is incompatible with the current PHP version (that Vanilla is too old), so unless you do what I did and find the most recent build online (I did archive my findings) it’s not possible to use Vanilla Forums.
It’s your decision of course. But it just seems odd to me to spend $200 on software but $0 on hosting for that software. I would rather do it the other way around: invest in the hosting and use free software. Like I am actually doing with forum you’re looking at right now!
In any case, the rules you should be aware of are simple: stay within the limits of your free account and don’t use pirated software. If you’re happy with XenForo and find it to be worth the money, and are happy with how it runs here, then you do you.
But right now, your forum is not working due to free hosting restrictions specifically, hence my recommendation to maybe spend your money differently.
