I’m experimenting with the free hosting and, oddly, I can FTP in MP3 files of 30MB, but other file types get instantly deleted. Is there special allowances made for MP3 files then? I thought the file limit was a hard 10MB?
Do they get deleted after refreshing the directory? Sometimes a file will appear to fully upload but then be purged by the server automatically later.
Oddly, not always. I have a folder in my space with 30MB MP3s and they stay around. I’ve subsequently tried in another folder and they get deleted. So my gut feel is that the background process on the server that auto-deletes large files must have had a problem on that day!
Any thoughts on making the magic happen again? ![]()
Thats certainly not the intended behaviour.
As such, we arn’t going to advise on how to circumvent the file size limitation
Sounds like a bug. Bugs do get fixed eventually
Yes, the file size limit is 10 MB.
It sounds very likely to me that it was as you described: a temporary issue with the big file detection system resulted in those files not being deleted.
I don’t know what happened, when it happened or why it happened. But if there is any known method to bypass the file size limit, we wouldn’t tell you, but try to block it instead.
Also, I will not make any promises that we won’t retroactively delete these large files from your account anyway without warning.
So I strongly recommend to find a way to make your project work without having those large MP3 files on our servers. Otherwise, you may find it not working one day with no way to fix it.
Noted. I am indeed now using Google Drive to serve the few large files I need to reference. ![]()
