<?php
echo ‘Test’;
?>
Try replacing ‘Test’ with “Test”
so it looks like this:
<?php echo "Test"; ?>PHP can be a bit testy like that
Same.
Also, I believe following says both should work:
Both should work. But I’ve always found ‘ tends to only work if it’s already inside “
But that’s just my experience
Both single quotes and double quotes should just work.
The code seems completely fine, and the URL just returns an empty response. It doesn’t even return the browser validation challenge, so something on the server level is intercepting this request. Perhaps some kind of special URL?
In any case, I don’t think that a page saying “test” is critical to the functionality of the website, so I’m guessing you are asking about this to solve some actual problem that you’re having. Maybe if you can tell us more about that, we can help you find a workaround?
This was performed as a troubleshooting step. The code stopped functioning as expected while working on a shared computer, after I was having trouble with my own devices. It initially was working on the shared computer, different from my devices, then it seemed like a server side issue occurred. It seems like no matter what, this file always “returns an empty response”.
What you’re saying doesn’t make sense to me. If it returns test, it shouldn’t return an empty response (since test is being returned). Do you have access to the code? From what I know, I don’t believe there is any other relevant functionality.
The objective of the forum is simple.
No info = no help
So this applies
No offense, but I’m not really trying to talk with anyone besides Admin on here.
With that said, my interpretation is that iFastNet is vulnerable and this issue may not be fixed. Fair enough. Not sure hosting technology may be worth paying for, especially when it seems vulnerable anyway. I plan adjusting my activity allotment accordingly.
Seems like people are trying to spin the situation this way and that way. Spin away.
New York - Seems like you have a lot more people to keep satisified. Those additional units seem justified. Everyone would like to feel like they are important.
This is a community forum, not a direct line to Admin. So I’m afraid if you post here, other people will answer and offer advice and support.
In reality, All hosting is vulnerable in one way or another. That’s the reality of opening a server up to the internet. There will always be people looking for vulnerabilities, and no matter how hard you try, there will always be new vulnerabilities.
Reading the thread, No one’s spinning anything.
But the fact of the matter is, without information about the specific problem you’re facing, the advice and help we can offer is limited.
In case my previous message didn’t make it clear enough: I do have the suspicion that this is a server bug. However, I’m not sure, it might not be easy to find out, and it might not be something we can fix on the short term.
If I’m right, you might be able to work around it by just naming the file different. Yes, it’s silly, but if it works, it’s not stupid.
Instead I wanted to try a more holistic approach to the problem and get a bit more context about what exactly you were trying to do. That’s not me “spinning” the problem, that’s me trying to help you move effectively towards a working website instead of picking apart minor server quirks.
In any case, please note that we provide a free service with community support. We expect you to understand that and behave respectfully and professionally.
This means that other people other than me will respond to your questions and offer help in good faith. You are not entitled to any support from me at all. Pushing well meaning people away because you demand that only I help you is not how this works and is not acceptable behavior. If you do not accept help from others, you will not get help from me.
If you are going to turn this discussion about things like “not worth paying for” (you’re not paying for it, it’s free hosting) or just “spinning the issue” (because the help we’re offering is not the help you wanted), then I have nothing more to say to you.
I did provide more data, though. ? And I’m willing accepting assistance from others, but thus far, you are the only one who has provided value recently. It’s not demanding exclusivity. It’s just being reasonable in who may be able assisting. I’m open to comments, but these ones were not useful.
I didn’t mean you are spinning anything. And I didn’t mean paying for something that way. Just seems like it would be worthless without seeing all the packets in and out of the server and authority support in international subpoenas/prosecution.
I don’t think this is a server quirk. Was working, now it’s not.
The only additional data I see is your first reply after I posted which I would summarize as “it worked before, now it doesn’t”. Along with some stuff about different devices, which is not really relevant because we can all see that the URL is not working, meaning it’s not a device issue. Without any timeline or knowing what (if anything) changed in the mean time, it doesn’t really say anything useful.
And more importantly: I asked a question which you have not answered yet.
Just to let you know, I don’t have full access to the servers either.
But if you say it’s not a server quirk, then I’m not sure what you expect me to do here. I would say that basically all website issues can be categorized as either server issues, website issues or client issues. If you are sure it’s not a server issue, what category do you think it falls into then?
The basic issue is that I believe the platforms currently available are not adequate to achieve my satisfaction in use. That is what I’m trying to address. It seems America is emotionally disturbed, and the UN, via the WPO, is utilizing patents in an anticompetitive manner, and the majority of people are on-board, like, “[Hey, pretty neat idea; you seem very upset, it is seemingly making other people upset, and this makes me feel better emotionally.]” That’s the core issue. I believe, due to this, a server change look place which disabled the functionality of this specific file.
My expectation is that you escalate it to iFastNet. Seems to be a core server issue. It seems in their interest to investigate and correct the issue, otherwise it seems people capable of producing a certain amount of value on their platform are at risk of not being able to be properly supported in their endeavor to do so, which, in my eyes, not only makes the free service useless, but also the paid service.
If this is the case, I think that I may need to take another approach in trying to correct the issue. Without additional details, I’m looking at this, wondering if it is a core exploit. Like, is it the hardware? The Linux kernel? Basic OS functionality? Core software? PHP? Man-in-the-middle update exploits? It seems too open, and too much of a risk to be wasting resources trying to figure out how this is failing.
?
This service is seemingly useless, so here we go. From my perception, InfinityFree is like a code peeping Tom. Like, hey, pull the covers back a bit more for me? What you doing under there? Trying to sleep. What you do under your covers. Awkward bro. Say there is a problem with the server, and the first thing that I’m seemingly asked, and it seems like the only thing that matters, is, well, what were you trying to do with it? Maybe I can do that with my server, since they won’t let you do it with the resources that have been assigned to you. Awkward bro. I didn’t expect this from Europeans, but, then again, Americanization seems to be spreading beyond their borders.
Weird. Awkward. Unfortunate.
I plan to exhaust the etiquette waiting period, then use this event as an example in submitting this for review, if not resolved in a timely manner.
Anthony, this needs to stop.
Looking at your post history, there’s a clear pattern of derailing technical discussions into inappropriate commentary, dismissing community members who try to help, and turning simple support requests into extended arguments.
Your latest response includes concerning geopolitical conspiracy theories and inappropriate analogies that have no place in a technical support forum. This behavior is unacceptable and creates a hostile environment for other users.
You have two options:
Focus solely on technical issues: keep posts factual, on-topic, and professional. Accept help from community members graciously. Answer technical questions when asked.
Find alternative hosting: if our service and community don’t meet your needs, there are many other options available.
I’m willing to investigate the server-side issue with your PHP file, but only if you can demonstrate you’re capable of productive technical discussion. This means answering my previous question about your website’s intended functionality and keeping all future responses focused on the technical problem.
Any further off-topic commentary, conspiracy theories, or dismissive behavior toward community members will result in an immediate ban.
I think you were right. Seems value.php has been blocked.
As far as intended functionality, this specific functionality was intended to allow flexible data creation, which is currently tied into the application utilizing profile type functionality. For example, if you define Name: and Picture URL:, it will generate a header with an image and text in certain parts of the application. You can view this if you go to the homepage, click Portal, then click on a Privi link in the bottom right hand corner of a post. You can also search profiles in a flexible way:
Is putting this functionality under a different URL an option? I’m guessing that there is something that’s specifically blocking this URL. If so, a different URL should not have this problem.
