I have a subdomain
I created another account. I deleted the subdomain from the first account but I still receive the error that the subdomain is already in use: I’ve waited 24h. Checked my registrar not sure what else to do. I’ve switched other domains successfully. Not sure if the attached image will show up.

Switching subdomain between account isn’t the way to do it. I’m guessing you want to replace the entire website/account contents for this purpose. To minimize downtime, just upload the contents from the other account’s htdocs to this account’s htdocs_new folder. Once that’s done, quickly rename the htdocs folder to htdocs_old and rename the htdocs_new to htdocs. This allows minimal content switching, and you can do this when there’s least visitors to your site during the night of the day.

No, I want to move the subdomain between accounts. I’m not sure what you are suggesting will do that. I’ve already moved the documents. But the subdomain is stuck to the one account? or appears unavailable despite being removed from the list in the first account. May need an admin to have a look on the back end. Thats why I provided the URL
I think I figured it out. The Domains function in the front infinityfree UI doesn’t properly delete an entry when clicking ‘delete’ on the Domains page. It still appears in the control panel. Deleting it from there made it instantly available.
However, I had no way of setting the home directory for it. Nor do I know where to modify the home directory for a domain/subdomain. Could anyone point it out to me. Apologies if it is somewhere obvious.
It’s set when the domain is added to the system. You can create a new home directory, or mirror an exsisting one.
It cannot be changed after creation. (But you can delete domain / re add it)

If you ever see anything like this again, know you can click the Refresh button in the Domains list in the client area to fetch the correct list of domains from the hosting platform. The list in the client area should be correct most of the time, but as you’ve experienced, it may not always work correctly.
