Adding domain via CNAME but still asking for NS change

Error Message

Your domain is not yet pointing to our nameservers ns1.infinityfree.com and ns2.infinityfree.com. Please change your nameservers at your domain name provider and wait a few hours for the changes to take effect.

Other Information

Hello,
I just created a new account for another website and linked my domain to Cloudflare DNS, as I absolutely need to use them. I know I have to add a CNAME record for domain verification on InfinityFree’s side, and I’ve already done that. It’s recognized by InfinityFree, but I still get an error message saying I need to add IF nameservers… What am I doing wrong?
I did the same thing for another domain and website, and it worked like a charm.

Thanks for the help!

(you can see it on the screenshot below)

Hello, and Welcome to the InfinityFree Forum!

Since the CNAME record is provided, you should be able to add the domain. This may be a Client Area Bug.

Try adding the domain in the Control Panel. Go to the Control Panel in your Hosting Account, scroll down and click on Addon Domains, then add your domain from there. Ignore the NS warning, since you configured the CNAME record.

Well, I had tried it before posting, and it was showing me an “Error Adding Domain” message. I just tried again through the Client Area — same error. Then I tried once more via cPanel after your post, and now it worked.
Sooo… sorry for the unnecessary topic, and thanks for your reply!

The error message is wrong, you don’t need to change the nameservers and can just use CNAME verification:

I hadn’t seen this topic, my bad.

Yeah, I managed to get through after a bit of waiting (I guess) – anyway, I do think it’d be a good idea to update the error message in that case.
It would help people be patient without pulling their hair out trying to figure out what’s wrong, and then ending up making a topic here…

Thanks a lot everyone for the help!

It really isn’t, I don’t expect you to check every topic. I just wanted to link to my reply there to avoid repeating myself.

I must admit it slipped my mind after that other topic. But the error message is improved now!
