Can you guarantee that you’re not gonna use any big corp services?
Including YouTube, all kinds of streaming services, Gmail, other Google stuffs, Google itself, Apple, Microsoft…
At some point DRM will get in your way

If that happens, I’ll work it out.
Just modify ubuntu and stick it on a phone lol
Ubuntu doesn’t need much modifications for it to work on a phone, I’ve got it to work on a (14 inch) tablet. It would have to be the hardware that needs modifications/simplifications.
fair. I was actually being daft. But honestly I’ve never tried to run ubuntu on anything other than a PC\Laptop
–edit–
And it looks like I’ll be doing it again. Microsoft just upgraded me to windows 11 without even asking… the PC just restarted and now I’m on 11…
Maybe set up a network or hosts file that blocks all Microsoft connections related to updates?
Think I’m going to have to ![]()
Funny thing is, my PC doesn’t actually meet the minimum standards for windows 11 lol
Microsoft is really pushing for Windows 11. Maybe they gave you a custom build? Or did they bypass the limits?
That’s strange to be honest, if it’s within 10 days you can just roll back.
Always keep in mind that we are dealing with Windows, not some quirky Linux distro.
This common sense happens to not work well on Windows.
The standard way is to use some Group Policy, but if you are on a Core Edition (most of the times, Home), you can edit a registry settings:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings]
FlightSettingsMaxPauseDays=dword:00000e42
Then just go to settings and choose “Pause Updates” with the maximum days available (In this example, 10 years)
Recent chaos looks like a Monsta issue ![]()
They probably implemented it with little care and ends up breaking many instances
Wait, they just pushed a new update to Monsta FTP? Well, good thing you posted this, now I know I need to update things. ![]()
To an extent. I wonder, how did the file type restrictions thing get introduced? ![]()
There were file type restrictions in earlier versions. But you could bypass those by just renaming the files. Checking the MIME type is more resilient… if it’s working correctly.
Looks like I successfully preloaded my website with HSTS ![]()
Safari doesn’t seem to have the fullest HSTS stuff, like it doesn’t stop you when an HSTS-enabled site sends an invalid certificate.
i also still don’t like cloudflare turnstile getting broken if i use my server as a vpn ![]()
i saw someone on facebook paused windows update until 2077 :v
Just increase the data value I wrote in my post to get longer periods
(For example 00008e94 for 100 years)
A max period too high tend to crash Windows Settings as Windows will try to render thousands of options in a single dialog so it’s smart to go lower.
There’re also ways to permanently nuke Windows Update but are way more hacky and hard to implement, so I didn’t mention those.
hmmmm weak tool, but just enough to down IF website, rip bro
I’m willing to say that it’s not the tool is weak, but the system stopped counting hits after suspending the website
if it update irt like cloudflare, i bet it only make 1 or 2 million requests, which in my opinion is weak as hell when compare to my site got like almost 1 billion requests
