OH NO :frowning: hopefully you can fix it without too much stress :frowning:

Remember you should always keep a backup (wait, isn’t that usually your line? lol)

So today I’ve had a message off a forum member, asking why I’m learning Cobol (its on my profile as a work in progress)

The reason is quite dull actually, I’m pushing for a job helping maintain and upgrade legacy systems at work, where some of them still use Cobol.

But this got me wondering if anyone else on here either still uses, or is learning languages that are considered by most to be outdated?

Because of the SSL changes, I now have to retire 4 sub-sub domains, change 42 files, update 7 databases (total of 375 entries), and inform 47 users of JriMail about the changes. Fun. :face_exhaling: It’s probably going to take 4 hours.

It’s almost impossible for me to fix. There are 1,000+ rows that match the new query, only 413 got changed. There is no other pattern between those rows either unfortunately.

It’s slightly annoying that it got messed up and it will cause some user confusion, but overall not a big deal.

Now that you mention backups there is an automated backup that I could pull from before my moment of brain dysfunction, but the time it would take to pull that backup, grab the necessary parts of it, and replace the prod data would take far more time then the amount it would take for me to reply to the single confused person in a support ticket lol

A lesson learned for sure though

Is the @Admin ever going to allow TL3 members to use this feature?

Is this suggestion ever going to be implemented? Or am I asking for something that’s unnecessary?

Honestly I’m learning BASIC when I’m bored, i have a Commodore 64 instruction booklet laying around just in case I want to learn some more lol.

BASIC is a good language. I learned BASIC and VB 6 side by side…

This looks like a good technique for blurred image place holders, I will try this once I’ve studied how it works

I think it is necessary (well, would be helpful)

Can’t you use another chatbot? or is it trained on the forum?

Did you get demoted or have you always been one (not always, just y’know)

that’s gonna suck.

Honestly, I haven’t really gotten any feedback from it yet. I don’t think anyone has used it. And I think the AI personas require some tweaking to be helpful, which I haven’t really put any effort in, so it’s not that useful right now.

I may disable it until there is a good use case for it. If you want to chat with an AI, you can use any service like ChatGPT just as well.

I don’t want to overdo it with the auto linking, there is such a thing as too many links. And I don’t the the terms are linked to that often to warrant an auto link.

Did you mean:

And I don’t think the terms are linked…

The chatbot I am referencing to is (I think) trained to be with this forum.

Luckily, I haven’t been demoted yet. I’ve been a Regular since February 1st.

You know what sucks more? Mis-counting my sub-sub domains, realizing I have 7, and I can only add 5 subdomains every 24 hours. :face_exhaling: :face_exhaling:

I could test it out, and provide feedback on the chatbot. I think it could benefit some people, in a way where it could provide advice as to what to do or something.

I have a feeling they aren’t going to be the same. If I am thinking this one right, the AI here is tailored to this forum only, and is updated frequently, whereas ChatGPT doesn’t receive that many updates, and isn’t tailored to this forum.

It is, but honestly is nothing special. The search function works very similarly, and AI being an AI has the tendency to hallucinate.

They are, this one just has marginally more information on the topics posted here on the forum.

The dummy text is below that .htaccess tab because there is a separator line
and it is visible that the .htaccess code is enclosed within ```

the “dummy” is just a placeholder so that others know where to continue with their code

That’s the thing: it isn’t. It’s just ChatGPT with a few instructions from Discourse fed in for context.

It could probably be made to do something useful, but again, I haven’t put effort into that yet.

I like how they used AI on the Laracasts website: have an auto responder bot that automatically generates a reply to support topics.

It’s not as good as a reply from a real person of course, but it’s a lot faster, and can help to do a first pass. And it’s very clearly advertised as such.

just make it link once per post eg,

Please check out the ToS. The Terms of service are cool. The Tos is cool.

would render as

Please check out the [ToS](https://www.infinityfree.com/terms/). The Terms of service are cool. The Tos is cool.

So that is only links once per post

I just thought you worded it as if you were once a higher rank.

@Admin can you confirm? oh, Green confirmed below

oh, Admin deconfirms.

So like when they paste it they change “Dummy” to code?

Thank you for this helpful guide. I won 3 mil at my local casino because of this

Unfortunately that is not possible, it is all or nothing.

I consider the extra instructions provided as “training”, Admin does not. I am not sure what “training” is defined as in the context of AI, so I don’t know who is correct.

Either way, the chatbot is literally ChatGPT with minimally more information about the forum.

When I’ve worked with AI we defined training as giving the model data to analyse and look for patterns. It also included setting guidelines, a persona and set answers and styles

So by that definition probably not
