Somebody tried to hack my JriMail account today! Noticing this, I looked into the registry, and noticed this: 37 users were recently created, but only 2 were in the JriMail DB. I then pulled the registry files, and noticed a huge mistake.

I have now patched this major bug. Usernames can no longer be re-associated with new keys, which that bug allowed. I was lucky they weren’t able to access my inbox, and lucky that I was the only one affected.

Guess that’s how popular the search engine is. Popular enough for stupid hackers to try and exploit the account base.

Wow. Glad you caught it… First hacker is a badge of honor

Wasn’t the first time some tried to hack the system. This would be the 3rd time in total.

And, because hackers make lives worse, they managed to fill up my Help forums with a total of 47,632 topics. :face_exhaling:

I just emptied the table. So, no new posts exist now. Glad to see my account is still alive.

I remember when those security barriers were first introduced in my local supermarket many years ago and it was annoying as it kept false triggering

One day while shopping I found a roll of those security strips that one of the staff had left on the shelf so I peeled one off and stuck it to the barrier just to see what would happen

After an hour of the staff repeatedly turning it off and on to try and stop the bleeping they gave up and turned it off

I was younger then and it was funny at the time and now I regret doing it but it still makes me laugh when I think about it

When you scroll the forum, it lagged and you clicked the other button when you want to click the like button? I feel you
Also congrats (again), from fellow TL2 person

System sent messages, like the one you have seen, aren’t dated for my sanity :slightly_smiling_face:

I haven’t implemented a cookie check in the login page yet.

I also discovered Repetza changing the PFP to raiden back then, but I didn’t have any oppurtunity to point it out :joy:

You two are not in the same game though :face_with_tongue:

When I receive ~14 Emails from InfinityFree saying that SSLs have 31 days left…

I think it’s about time to bump and push new SSLs. For all of my domains. :face_exhaling:

(Random person inserts “Premium hosting has automatic SSL renewal”)
Is it free? No? Nevermind then.

And I thought the 4 i got (plus three for domains that no longer exist) was bad enough haha

So, I got breached again. This time, it’s worse.

I’m going to shut things down until things are resolved.

Not good.

any idea how they’re getting in?

Possibly through the Login Portal.

It could also be through the registry itself, but I’m not sure.

I have shutdown everything. I might break down the registry and change the functionality

I am going to add a 25 second delay somewhere too.

And IP tracking.
